award is presented each year at the Honors banquet to the person who exemplifies in their public and private lives, the pursuit of the Higher Things. This year’s honoree is Barry Pulskamp ‘72.
Barry’s incredible “can do” attitude has always been evident as he excelled at Elder, the University of Cincinnati (where he majored in science and mechanical engineering) and then University of Michigan (in their Executive Management program).
Barry joined CG&E in 1977 where he developed several critical engineering processes that were adopted by the energy generating industry world-wide. He continued to rise to the top of his profession and by 1999 was responsible for the operation and maintenance of all but a few of Duke Energy’s power plants.
Since his retirement from Duke Energy, Barry has graciously volunteered the past two years to help Elder in the massive upgrades to our buildings. Barry gave Elder a life-time of professional expertise; the volunteer hours he put in were amazing.
Barry was joined by his wife of 37 years Pam, their sons Barry ’01, with wife Angie, and Adam ’04 and daughter Beth Cebula, with her husband Dan, in accepting this award.
