Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior Matt Murray (Elder '14) earned Academic All-American honors in results released November 28th by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Murray earned a spot on the CoSIDA / NCAA Division III Academic All-America second team as a punter after an outstanding season on the field and in the classroom.
Murray was named HCAC Special Teams Player of the Year on the field and is a chemical engineering and mathematics double major with a 3.85 grade point average in the classroom. This season, he averaged 38.1 yards per punt on 53 kicks, highlighted by 15 punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line and nine punts resulting in fair catches.
Also an accomplished field goal kicker and kickoff specialist, Murray booted 15 touchbacks this season. He finished 5-6 on field goals with a long of 38 yards and was 28-30 on extra points.
