Elder High School congratulates seniors (pictured l to r) Justin Besl (St. Dominic), Jason Sponaugle (O.L. Lourdes), and Owen Plagge (O.L. Lourdes/O.L. Victory) who have been named 2018 National Merit Semifinalists!
About 1.6 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools took the 2016 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, including Besl, Sponaugle, and Plagge, represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. All three students will now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for a National Merit Scholarship.
Additionally, since 2007, an Elder graduate has anonymously awarded $1,000.00 to any student who achieves this level of success in the National Merit Scholarship competition. We greatly appreciate this generous support of our students by the Elder Family!
Besl is the son of Thomas and Lynn Besl of Delhi; Sponaugle is the son of Brian and Amy Sponaugle of Green Township; and Plagge is the son of David and Kim Plagge of Westwood.
