Since 2007, Elder's Honors Program has provided unique and challenging opportunities for select students. One such opportunity includes a speaker series where students get to hear from community leaders throughout the school year. On September 26, 2017, Elder High School welcomed Ms. Jill Meyer who is the President and CEO of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, one of the largest metro chambers in the nation.

Ms. Meyer opened up our series by speaking about the "importance of failure." Her theme for the evening was putting yourself in position for major failures is necessary to achieve something that is truly great. She also mentioned the importance of the need to make yourself uncomfortable in order to grow.

Honors Program students will next attend Price Hill's Candidate Night on October 18, at the Rev. Jerome A. Schaeper Center on Elder's campus. The event, hosted by the Lower Price Hill Community Council, the East Price Hill Improvement Association, and the West Price Hill Community Council, will introduce and feature Cincinnati Mayoral and City Council candidates in a Town Hall forum.
