Course of Study:  

English I – understanding and appreciating literature, writing (sentence, paragraph, and essay), traditional grammar, vocabulary.                                             

English II – genres of literature (novel, drama, poetry), writing (intensive study in different rhetorical strategies, more study of the paragraphs and the essay), vocabulary.                                    

English III – American literature survey, more practice in writing the essay, introduction to the research paper, electronic research, cultural literacy.

English IV – British/World literature, A.P. test preparation, intensive practice and study of essay writing, more work with research paper.   

Opportunities for Development:  Playhouse in the Park, Anthology of Young American Poets, Elder Literary Magazine, A.P. seniors may receive college credit, NCTE Achievement Awards, nationally recognized student poetry.
