Elder Businessmen's Association

The Elder Businessmen's Association is dedicated to serving the Elder Community in a variety of ways.  Their membership meetings, usually held at an Elder grad's place of business, provide both social and networking opportunities.  The Elder Businessmen's Association also organizes an annual Career Day for Elder juniors and seniors.  For membership information, contact the Alumni Office at 921-3744. 

The Elder Businessmen's Association is dedicated to the success and interaction of the Elder Community in the business and professional world.  Their goals include providing:

-  Networking for Elder Businessmen's Association members.
-  Economic benefit among Elder Businessmen's Association members.
-  Educational seminars and meetings for Elder Businessmen's Association members.
-  Mentoring and counseling for Elder students.
-  Job placement for Elder Grads.
-  Summer jobs for Elder Faculty.
-  Financial support for Elder High School.

Elder Grads to Share Their Insights & Expertise at Career Day – February 3
On Friday, February 3rd, the Elder Businessmen’s Association will sponsor the 16th Annual Career Day.  Last year’s Career Day featured 68 alums who generously shared their career experiences with Junior and Senior students.

Final Fridays: 
Every month we will being hosting informal EBA meetings called "FINAL FRIDAYS" on the last Friday of each month. 

January:
On Friday, January 27th members of the EBA gathered at Price Hill Chili for networking and socializing before the Elder- Moeller basketball game.  Elder grad Joe Hoffecker '82, a 25-year BizCourier Vet and The Bier Band enthusiast, was the guest speaker at this month's Final Friday event.

November:
From Delhi to Elder, CNN and FOX News: Coffee, and Conversations with Bill Hemmer
On Friday, November 25th FOX News Anchor Bill Hemmer '83 was the featured speaker for The EBA's Final Friday at Elder's Schaeper Center.  Thanks Bill!
 
October:
October's "Final Friday" Happy Hour was held October 28 at The Neighbors Bar before the LaSalle game.  Grads and friends gathered to meet, greet, converse, network, and get ready for the big game!

September:  
Everyone's favorite Cincinnati sports anchor, the inimitable Dennis Janson from WCPO-TV Channel 9 was the keynote speaker at the Elder Businessmen's Association monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Schaeper Center at Elder.  Thanks DJ!

August:  August's Final Friday event was held on Friday, August 26th at noon at Ron's Roost.   Ron's Roost was opened in 1964, is owned by Ron Larkin '81, and was founded by his father, Ron Larkin, also an Elder grad.  Thanks to all those who attended and to Ron Larkin for his hospitality.

July:   The first Final Friday event was held July 29th at The Holy Grail West.  Thanks to all who attended this event. 


Former Cincinnati Police Chief Tom Streicher Addresses EBA:
Tom Streicher '71 was the keynote speaker at the June 9th EBA meeting: "The Business of Being the Cincinnati Police."   Congratulations Tom on a job well done as our Chief of Police!  

EBA Golf Outing:  On Friday, May 13th the Elder Businessmen's Association Golf Classic was held at the Grand Oak Golf Course.  This is an important scholarship fundraising event to assist graduating seniors to continue their education.

Career Day was held February 4, 2011.  Graduates representing numerous industries – accounting, financial, legal, architecture, media, PR/marketing, banking, finance, investments and criminal justice, to name a few – were on hand for the this year's Career Day.  The annual event, organized by the EBA, assists the almost 500 Elder juniors and seniors considering their collegiate choices and professional calling.  Thank you to all the grads who made this day successful!
