Course Offerings:
Mobile Computing
• 0.25 credit, 1st or 2nd quarter, Grade 9, required
• Equips students to use Elder's computing resources (especially the Tablet-PC) throughout high school
• Covers essential Windows, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS OneNote
• Teaches effective Internet safety and research methods

3-D Computer Animation – Alice
• 0.5 credit, 1 semester, Grades 9-10
• Object-oriented programming using 3-D objects
• Uses a drag-and-drop interface – no typing of instructions
• Based on storytelling with the 3-D objects

Software Use
• 0.5 credit, 1 semester, Grades 10-12
• Covers essential Windows, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)
• Construct web pages

Graphic Design Software Use
• 0.5 credit, 1 semester, Grades 10-12
• Emphasizes principles & elements of graphic design
• Covers essential Windows, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Incorporates Adobe Photoshop Elements

Computer Science 1 (Visual Basic)
• 0.5 credit, 1 semester, Grades 10-12
• Learn to write programs in Visual Basic
• Incorporates principles of program design for event-driven software

Computer Science 2 (Visual Basic)
• 0.5 credit, 1 semester, Grades 10-12
• Expands knowledge of Visual Basic to solve more complex problems
• Incorporates techniques for network and web-based programming

AP Computer Science 1 & 2 (Java)
• 0.5 credit each semester, Grades 10-12
• Learn principles of program design, and object-oriented programming in Java
• Prepare for the Advanced Placement (AP) Exam in Computer Science
• Earn transferable college credit through the Early College Credit program (MSJ)
