The Spotlight on College and Career events are workshops designed for parents and students to help you navigate the sometimes confusing pathway to college and/or career. They are typically designed to address the concerns particular to a grade level.

The College and Career Presentations are workshops designed for parents and students to help you navigate the sometimes confusing pathway to college and/or career. They are typically designed to address the concerns particular to a grade level.
All workshops will be held at 7:00 P.M. in the Schaeper Center
September: Financial Aid Workshop : Thursday, September 15th
This workshop is for Senior Parents/students. Jodi Ermano, a representative from Summit College Funding will talk about the financial aid process, forms, deadlines, tricky questions and what to expect.
October: College Planning for Seniors - Q & A Panel: Monday, October 3rd
This event will have several different admissions representatives to answer commonly asked questions about the college process, applying, scholarships, etc… Some of the schools that will be represented are: University of Cincinnati, The Ohio State University, Northern Kentucky University, & Thomas More College.
November: College Planning Night for Juniors : Tuesday, November 15th
Juniors and their parents will have the opportunity to choose 4 of 10 mini-workshops (either together or separately). Each workshop topic will be presented by a college admission representative and/or Elder’s Guidance Staff:
- “First time” parents
- Choosing a major
- Application Process
- Scholarships/Financial Aid
- Putting your “college list” together
- Making College visits
- NCAA Eligibility issues
- Community colleges
Representatives from the following colleges/universities will be in attendance: Xavier University, University of South Carolina, Marian University, Mount St. Joseph University, Cincinnati State, Northern Kentucky University, & Thomas More College
December: College and Beyond Workshop: Tuesday, December 13th
This workshop will be for all current student/parents of Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. This workshop will be led by professional and CEO of College and Beyond, Dan Bisig. His goal is to help families navigate their way through process of college admission, preparation and funding. He offers a detailed roadmap for parents and students, so you can reach your goals!
January: Navigate with Naviance: Thursday, January 19th (subject to change)
This workshop is designed to familiarize freshman parents/students with Naviance and how it can be used to facilitate the “college” process.
September-December: College Visits
College representatives visit Elder throughout the first semester. These are intended for juniors and seniors. The dates and times are always posted on Naviance. If a parent would like to attend, please contact Mrs. Lind to reserve a spot.
