Robert & Alma Bosse Memorial

Robert C. Bosse, Elder Class of 1939, was one of the oldest alumni and longest-giving donors in the school’s history. Bob was born in 1921, the year before Elder opened its doors to students. When Elder needed a stadium, his class went to work, physically assisting in building The Pit! Upon graduation, Bob enlisted in the Coast Guard and proudly served his country during WWII. He met Alma, married in 1947, began working for the U.S. Post Office as a mail carrier, and started a family. Both parents made many sacrifices to ensure each of their five children had a Catholic education and the opportunity to attend college or trade school. Bob often held two jobs while Alma went to work in the McAuley High School cafeteria to help offset the cost of the girls schooling. Education and family were paramount to Bob and Alma, therefore, after his passing in November of 2017 at the age of 96-1/2, the children unanimously agreed a scholarship in their name would be the ultimate way to honor them. It was Bob’s hope to live to be 100 years old, but God had other plans. Through this memorial scholarship, both he and Alma can live on by affording young men the chance for a great foundation and solid education.
