Jacob Russell '21 Selected to Prestigious Medical Explorer Program
Elder junior Jacob Russell is one of just 25 students in the Cincinnati region to have been selected for the Medical Explorers Program at MercyHealth Fairfield Hospital.
Nearly 100 local high school juniors and seniors applied for this highly-selective program. Students had to have at least a 3.9 GPA just to apply. Topics that will be covered during the program's learning sessions include: surgery; sutures/staples; radiology; cardiac; CPR/Code Blue/IV; respiratory; laboratory; ER/pharmacy; and ortho/sports medicine. Sessions begin at the end of September and run through the beginning of May.
Jake currently ranks 5th in the junior class with a 4.8 weighted GPA, and he is also a member of Elder's varsity soccer team. Jake is interested in pursuing a career in neuroscience after graduating from Elder. He is from Our Lady of Visitation parish and he is the son of Paul and Lisa Russell.
