Book Drive to Benefit Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati

The Elder Businessmen’s Association hosted its 3rd Annual Children’s Book Drive during Catholic Schools Week at Elder, February 1-5, 2021.
New and gently-used young adult and children’s books were collected in the school's main lobby during school hours. Additional drop-off locations included Pet Wants Cincy West and the parishes of St. Jude and St. Bernard.

Donated books were then delivered by members of the Elder Businessmen's Association (EBA) to the Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati, an organization that champions the development of literacy in the individual, the family, the workplace, the school, and the community by raising awareness, improving access, and serving as a catalyst for literacy efforts.

Ken Heckman ’81 and Greg Merk ’86 coordinated this effort on behalf of the EBA, and Greg’s son John, an 8th grader at Our Lady of Visitation and soon-to-be Panther, assisted with our delivery on his scheduled day off of school.  Thanks, guys!

Lastly, we greatly appreciate our drop-off locations as well as Scott Wegman '85 and all our friends at Wegman Company for donating collection boxes.
